Getting Started
Quick start guides to help you set up your account and start managing products.
Create your account
Sign up with your work email and company name. You'll receive a confirmation email — click the link to activate your account. After that you can get started right away; locations and departments can be set up later under Settings.
Upload your first SDS
Go to the Register and click 'Add product'. Upload a PDF of your Safety Data Sheet. Chemspark automatically extracts the product name, supplier, composition with CAS numbers, hazard statements (H-statements), precautionary statements (P-statements), GHS pictograms, physical properties and exposure limits.
Review the extracted data
After processing, review what was extracted — uploads that need a second look are flagged automatically. Every field is directly editable. Pay particular attention to the H-statements: they are the basis for the hazard classification and everything that follows.
Run the screening
Go to Screening & assessment. For each product you answer a few short questions about actual use: open or closed handling, quantity, duration and frequency, chance of mist and skin contact. Chemspark then determines what's needed: at low risk the screening itself is the documented assessment, otherwise the product is queued for a further risk assessment. Substances that need special attention (such as CMRs) are automatically routed more strictly.
Complete the risk assessments
For products that come out of the screening there are three qualitative models: inhalation, dermal and fire & explosion. They combine the hazard data from the SDS with your workplace details and produce a risk rating from low to very high with fitting control measures. If inhalation needs more detail, the built-in ECETOC TRA model calculates the exposure quantitatively.
Check the compliance status
The Compliance page shows which products appear on regulatory lists: the SZW list (CMR), SVHC, ZZS and REACH authorisation and restrictions — plus your own custom lists. Flagged products may require special controls, substitution or a legal obligation. The check runs automatically on every new upload and list update.
Create workplace cards and GHS labels
Generate a workplace instruction card per product for the work floor — Chemspark prepares a draft from the SDS, you review and approve — and print GHS labels for packaging. Both come straight from the substance file, so they stay in sync with your register.
Generate reports
Use the Reports page for exports: select your data source, choose columns, apply filters and export to Excel or PDF. Save templates for reports you run regularly — for an audit or inspection, for example.
