Notifications
Notifications collects what needs attention: an SDS that expires, a high risk without a measure, a product on a regulatory or custom list, and more. Notifications live in the app, under the bell at the top; Chemspark does not send them by e-mail. The page opens from the bell, with View all notifications.
For: Users · Admins
What is on the page
- Tabs: All, Unread, SDS Expiry, Compliance, Risk Assessment and System.
- Each notification has a title, a short explanation, how long ago and the location. An unread notification is shown in bold, with a dot.
- Urgent appears only for a high or very high risk, or a calculation above the limit, that has no measure recorded yet. Once the measure is there, it reads Resolved.
- When a product is on several lists, those matches are shown together in one notification.
Types of notification
- SDS expires soon and SDS expired.
- Workplace card review due.
- Risk assessment review recommended.
- High risk without a measure, or a calculation above the limit without a measure.
- A product on a regulatory list (CMR, SZW, ZZS, SVHC, REACH) or on a Custom list.
- Subscription limit warning.
Chemspark checks every day, even when nobody logs in.
What you can do
- Clicking a notification marks it as read and opens the page where the work is: for an SDS the product page, for a list match Compliance, for a high risk the measures in Risk Assessment.
- Mark All as Read.
- The bin removes the notification from your own list.
- Preferences opens the Notification Preferences. The same settings are under Settings, at Set up notifications. Changes are saved automatically.
Notification preferences
- Risk Assessment Alerts: per route (Inhalation Risk, Dermal Risk, Fire Risk) on or off; for inhalation and fire also from High or Very high only.
- Compliance Alerts: on or off, and per list: CMR Substances, SZW Substances, ZZS Substances, SVHC Substances, REACH Authorization List, REACH Restriction List and the Custom Lists. Plus List Update Alerts.
- Other Alerts: expired or expiring SDS, risk assessment review, workplace card review and subscription limit.
- Locations (admins only): All locations, or Specific locations only.
Typical tasks
- Dealing with a high risk: open the notification and record a measure in Risk Assessment. See 'Measures and the worklist'.
- An expired SDS: the notification opens the product page, ready to replace the SDS. All expired SDSs per supplier are on SDS updates. See 'Keeping SDSs current'.
- A list match: the notification opens Compliance, already filtered on the product. See 'Compliance and the CMR registration'.
- Fewer notifications: under Preferences, switch off the lists or routes that do not apply to the organisation.
Who can do what
Every user has their own notifications and chooses their own preferences. An admin can also pick a location at the top and choose which locations send notifications. When 'SDS expires soon' starts applies to the whole organisation; an admin sets it under Settings.

Settings
Settings has three blocks: My account (only for the user themselves), Organisation (applies to everyone in the organisation) and Subscription.
Workflow
Measures and the worklist
The worklist in Risk assessment shows where every product stands, from screening to done. A high risk stays open until a measure is recorded.
Workflow
Keeping SDSs current: SDS updates and suppliers
Chemspark warns when an SDS has expired, expires soon or has no date. SDS updates lists those products per supplier, ready to request a new version or to record that the current SDS is still current.
Workflow
Compliance and the CMR registration
Compliance shows which products contain a substance on a regulatory list. For carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances, Chemspark also helps with the registration the Dutch Working Conditions Decree (Arbobesluit) requires.
Workflow
Making workplace cards
A workplace instruction card shows per product what workers need to know at the workplace. Chemspark drafts it from the SDS and the recorded measures; then someone reads the card, saves it and posts it.
